The “Blossom Effect”
Motion is invaluable in drawing the eye’s attention. Yet two aircraft on a collision course will appear virtually motionless to each other, maintaining a constant relative bearing.

Structural Ice
Pressure on the elevator may help to reattach airflow to the aileron. How quickly a surface collects ice depends in part on its shape. Thin, modern wings will be more critical with ice on them than thick, older wing sections.

Steady green
Cleared to land Cleared for takeoff

Airport Advisory Area
An area within 10 statute miles (SM) of an airport where a control tower is not operating, but where a flight service station (FSS) is located. At these locations, the FSS provides advisory service to arriving and departing aircraft.

Vestibular Illusions
In the absence of visual reference, we rely on our vestibular system to keep us oriented. But as previously explained, this system is totally unreliable for this purpose when in motion.

REILs
Runway end identifier lights Airport Lighting (For further information and a complete set of approach consist of a pair of synchronized flashing lights located on each side of the runway threshold.

Atmospheric Conditions
Haze, flight over open water, or an obscured horizon can make it difficult to see distant objects, impairing the ability to refocus vision.

Spatial Disorientation
Spatial disorientation is an erroneous sense or mistaken perception of one's position and motion relative to the earth.

VFR
Visual Flight Rules we fly under Visual Flight Rules

Taxi to—hold short
A clearance to begin taxiing, but enroute to the taxi clearance limit you must hold short of another taxiway or a crossing runway as specified by the controller.
