Note Since March 20, 1997, aircraft with 10 or more seats
used in scheduled passenger service have been operated under 14
CFR 121.
Definitions of NTSB Classifications
Major - an accident in which any of three conditions is met:
a Part 121 aircraft was destroyed, or
there were multiple fatalities, or
there was one fatality and a Part 121 aircraft was substantially
damaged.
Serious - an accident in which at least one of two conditions is
met:
there was one fatality without substantial damage to a Part
121 aircraft, or
there was at least one serious injury and a Part 121 aircraft
was substantially damaged.
Injury - a nonfatal accident with at least one serious injury and
without substantial damage to a Part 121 aircraft.
Damage - an accident in which no person was killed or seriously
injured, but in which any aircraft was substantially damaged.
Commercial pilots must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 250 hours of flight time
190 hours under Part 141, including 100 hours in powered aircraft, 50 hours in airplanes, 100 hours as pilot in command (of which 50 hours must be cross-country flight time). They must hold an instrument rating (or be restricted to flying for hire only in daylight, under visual flight rules, within 50 miles of the originating airport). They may fly for hire in accordance with applicable parts of the Federal Aviation Regulations.
Definition:
A pilot may be tempted to make it into an airport by descending below minimums during an approach. There may be a belief that there is a built-in margin of error in every approach procedure, or a pilot may want to admit that the landing cannot be completed and a missed approach must be initiated.

Definition:
When the only or most distinct visual reference is a cloud formation, it can be confused with the horizon or the ground. A sloping cloud deck that extends into a pilot's peripheral vision will appear to be horizontal.
